X-Block
FAQ's |
| |
|
Can the X-BLOCK be cut?
No. The X-BLOCK bricks are hollow inside and cannot be used if they
are cut.
Are the X-BLOCK bricks available in other sizes?
No. The bricks all have the following dimensions: 20 x 20 x 8 cm.
Can the X-BLOCK bricks be used to build arches?
It isnīt easy to create an arch construction with X-BLOCK bricks. You
can, however, use several framed elements with appropriate scantlings
or similar to create a rectangular arch.
Is the X-BLOCK also suitable for outdoor applications?
Basically, the X-BLOCK was designed for indoor applications. It can be
used for outdoor applications though. The bricks have been tested for
heat and cold resistance, though they do not offer the same level of
insulation as windows. If you use the X-BLOCK outdoors, make sure to
use silicone instead of conventional seal profiles. You have to ensure
that the X-BLOCK is able to expand and contract as a result of
exposure to heat and cold.
Can the X-BLOCK be used as a shower partition?
Yes, though there is an important difference to its use for dry
applications. If you use X-BLOCK for wet applications, use a neutral,
mesh silicone for wet applications to prevent water from penetrating
the wall.
What is the load limit of X-BLOCK walls?
X-BLOCK walls can withstand loads of 80-100 kg / running metre.
Can a door be integrated in an X-BLOCK wall?
Yes. If you want to affix a door to an X-BLOCK element, first of all
apply a scantling or similar with the dimensions 80 x 30 mm (depending
on the casing depth) to the element. you can then use this to attach
the casing to the door in the usual way.
Can you build "around corners" with X-BLOCK?
Yes. But only if you affix an 80 x 80 mm cant (or aluminium tube) to
the side of a finished element. You can use this to affix the next
element at a right angle.
At how many points does the X-BLOCK wall have to affixed?
That depends on how large your project is. Basically, to ensure the
stability of the wall , it should be affixed to at least two points
(e.g. to the floor and to a wall side).
Are the X-BLOCK bricks UV resistant?
Yes. The X-BLOCK is made of the same material that the automotive
industry uses for car headlight covers.
What fire protection class is the X-BLOCK in?
Fire protection requirements getting stricter and stricter, especially
in the fair stand construction sector. The X-BLOCK is in fire
protection class B2, which wasn't always acceptable to al trade fair
organisers in the past. This is why it wasn't possible to implement
all projects with the X-BLOCK.
As a result, we decided to search for another solution:
We have inserted a metal brace in each of the grooves on the X-BLOCK,
which are spaced 20 cm apart. This creates a metal grid that prevents
the X-BLOCK wall from collapsing or tipping over in the event of fire.
This construction led to the acceptance of fire protection class B2
and now all projects can be realised.
Can the X-BLOCK be illuminated?
Yes, there are various methods of illuminating the X-BLOCK partition
wall system:
Conventional illuminated tubes placed in the grooves (point light)
Neon tubes to backlight the wall
Fibre optic system using a light projector (outside the wall), with or
without a colour wheel. The colour wheel causes the light that runs
through the grooves to change colour. If the colour wheel is stopped
at a specific colour, only this colour runs through the bricks. The
light is transported through a fibre optic cable that is inserted in
the grooves when the wall is assembled.
How do I install a complete element in a wall breakthrough?
It's best to do this by assembling the X-BLOCK element that you want
to use beforehand. Then you can affix the finished into the wall
breakthrough with connecting strips (e.g. made of wood).
